Today's Game
This evening, the Bisons will play the middle game of a three-game series against the Gwinnett Stripers. Buffalo is making their first trip to teams in the IL South after playing the first 28 games within the IL North. Following tomorrow's morning game the Herd heads to Norfolk for a three-game set against the Tides.
Last Game: BUF 9, GWN 6 F/10
For the seventh time in nine games the Bisons scored two runs in the opening inning. However, the Stripers answered back before Ben Revere cashed in a pair to give Buffalo a 4-2 lead in the 2nd inning. Gwinnett took the lead, 6-5, on an Alex Jackson three-run home run in the 7th. The Herd answered the next inning, and scored three times in the 10th to defeat Gwinnett in the first game of the series 9-6.
Gwinnett (1-0)
The Bisons have struggled over the 10-year existence of the Atlanta Braves Triple-A Affilate in Gwinnett County. Buffalo has won the season series twice against Gwinnett in 10 tries, most recently in 2012 (6-2). Last season the Stripers won four of the seven meetings between the two teams, including 2-1 at Coolray Field.
Today's Starter
Jacob Waguespack heads to the hill for the seventh time this season. The righty has worked five or more innings in all but one start this season, last time going 5.0 IP against Lehigh Valley on 5/3. Waguespack has not been credited with a win in his last three starts, giving up a total of nine earned runs over those outings.
Ben Revere
Ben Revere made his Bisons' debut on Tuesday and made an immediate offensive impact in the lineup. The veteran singled and scored in the 1st inning, and then one inning later cashed in two with a 2RBI double that extended Buffalo's lead to 4-2.
Anthony Alford
Anthony Alford's sixth multi-hit game of the season helped put Buffalo over the top on Tuesday. Alford had a two-run double in the 1st, and collected an RBI triple in the 10th. He went 2-4 with 3RBI in the win.
Transactions
On Monday RHP David Paulino was placed on the 7-day Injury List (retro to 5/5), while RHP Francisco Rios was promoted from New Hampshire (AA).
Blue Jays Update
Toronto (15-21) dropped their fourth straight game, losing 3-0 to the Minnesota Twins. The Blue Jays and Twins will close out their three-game series at 7:07 p.m. at Rogers Centre, with an off day to follow for Buffalo's parent club. The Jays will then welcome the Chicago White Sox for a three-game series.
