
Mets Take Game Two against Bats, 6-1

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Bats (14-19) were defeated by the Syracuse Mets (18-14) by a 6-1 score at Louisville Slugger Field to even the series. Narciso Crook got his first career Triple-A hit with an RBI double.
The game went scoreless through the first two innings for both sides. The Mets scored the first run of the game from an RBI ground-rule double from Dominic Smith. Syracuse added on to their lead when Danny Espinosa hit a two-run RBI single making the score 3-0.
The Bats' first run of the game came in the fifth from Crook's double off the left field wall that scored Luis Gonzalez. Louisville trailed 3-1 after the fifth. Syracuse extended their lead to 4-1 on a solo shot to center from Danny Espinosa in the top of the sixth.
The Mets threatened to increase the lead in the seventh when Ian Krol allowed them to load the bases, but the Bats ended the inning without allowing a run with a 4-6-3 double play. Pinch hitter Travis Taijeron hit a two-run home run to give the Mets a five-run lead in the eighth. The game remained 6-1 with neither team scoring in the ninth.
Keury Mella (1-3, 5.77) pitched 3.0 innings, giving up three runs on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks. Jackson Stephens and Cody Reedwere the only two Louisville pitchers out of six to not give up a hit to the Mets.
Hector Santiago (2-1, 3.75)got the win for Syracuse in 6.0 innings pitched, his most innings pitched and first quality start of the season, giving up one run on three hits, walking two and striking out four. No other Syracuse pitcher gave up a run in the game with Eric Hanhold, Paul Sewald, and Ryan O'Rourke pitching an inning each.
Louisville and New York Mets' Triple-A affiliate Syracuse stay atLouisville Slugger Field to play the final game of the three-game series withfirst pitch set for Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. Louisville will go for its first home series win of the season in the rubber match. It's a right-hander matchup with Vladimir Gutierrez (1-3, 9.00) set to pitch for the Bats and Casey Coleman (0-2, 3.13) set to pitch for the Mets.
