
Lukes home run in 8th sinks IronPigs

(Allentown, Pa) - The Durham Bulls (17-14) defeated the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (19-11) 4-3 on Tuesday evening.
Durham took a 1-0 lead off Tyler Viza in the top of the second inning. Nick Solack scored on an RBI groundout by Nick Ciuffo. Solack led off the inning with a triple.
The game proceeded to enter a one hour and forty-eight-minute rain delay after the conclusion of the third inning. Both starting pitchers would not return. Austin Davis entered the game for Viza, while Ryan Merritt (2-2) entered the game for Ricardo Pinto.
Lane Adams extended his hitting streak to 11 games as he homered off Merritt in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the game at 1-1. The home run for Adams was his seventh of the season.
Lehigh Valley took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning as Malquin Canelo scored on an RBI groundout by Deivi Grullon. Damek Tomscha hit an RBI double off Merritt to extend the IronPigs lead to 3-1.
Durham tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the seventh inning against Tyler Gilbert. Jake Cronenworth and Keon Wong both scored on a fielding error by Gift Ngoepe. Nathan Lukes hit a go-ahead home run off Josh Martin (1-2) in the top of the eighth inning to give the Bulls a 4-3 lead.
Oliver Drake earned his sixth save of the season by pitching a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning.
Austin Davis pitched a scoreless top of the fourth inning. Kyle Dohy didn't allow a run in 1 2/3 innings pitched in relief of Davis.
The IronPigs and Bulls play Wednesday morning at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is 10:35 a.m.
