Buffalo Bisons News Release

An uncharacteristic error plagued the Bisons as the Rochester Red Wings struck for a pair of unearned runs in the fourth inning to beat the Herd, 7-3, in the Saturday completion of a suspended game at Frontier Field.

T.J. Zeuch, who started the game after the suspension, ran into trouble early hitting Rafael Bautista and surrendering a double to Ali Castillo to begin the fourth before Cody Wilson hit a ground ball to Kevin Vicuna. The shortstop Vicuna launched a throw home and under the glove of Alejandro Kirk to try and get the lead runner. The throw skipped to the backstop, allowing both runners to score. Rochester struck for three more runs in the fifth, this time charged to Zeuch after he allowed a solo home run, a pair of singles and a triple to break the game open 7-1.

Prior to the delay on Friday night, Connor Overton made the game's initial start for Buffalo and ran into trouble just four pitches into the game. The righty surrendered his first two home runs of the year, a 430-foot home run to Andrew Stevenson and a 412 ft home run to Jake Noll to put Buffalo down 2-0. Overton ultimately earned the loss in the defeat.

Overton started the season as primarily a reliever and has appeared worked his way into the starting rotation starting in his fourth consecutive appearance and his seventh overall.

Nash Knight inched Buffalo within a run in the second inning Friday driving home Richard Urena with a groundball single through the right field gap, Knight's 10th RBI of the year. The run went unearned after a one-out fielding error by Noll on a Cullen Large groundball kept the inning alive.

After the second frame was complete the heavy rain began to fall, and the game's conclusion was rescheduled to Saturday afternoon.

The Buffalo offense showed signs of life in the seventh Saturday as Large got a run back with a leadoff homer, his third of the year, into the Bisons' bullpen in left field. Vicuna drove in Logan Warmoth for another, his third RBI of the year, to cut the Red Wings lead down to four.

Restarted games have not been Buffalo's friend this season. The Herd is 0-3 in suspended games and has been outscored 16-9.
