
Pigs bounce back in a convincing way

(Allentown, Pa) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (25-33) bounced back in a big way on Saturday evening against the Worcester Red Sox (34-23) as they won 9-1 to set up a rubber match on Sunday afternoon at Coca-Cola Park.
Lehigh Valley's Spencer Howard fought through 4 2/3 innings as he only allowed one run - an RBI single by Johan Mieses in the top of the third inning that gave Worcester a 1-0 lead.
The Pigs scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning against Worcester's Tanner Houck (0-2) to take a 2-1 lead. Jake Elmore scored on a passed ball while Rafael Marchan scored on a sacrifice fly hit by Matt Vierling. The Pigs scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to extend their lead to 6-1. Darick Hall scored on an RBI groundout while Elmore added a two-run single. Nick Maton doubled to score Elmore.
Lehigh Valley scored another run in the bottom of the fifth inning and added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 9-1 lead.
The IronPigs bullpen combined to pitch 4 1/3 scoreless innings against the WooSox. Cam Bedrosian (1-0) earned the win after striking out two batters in 1 1/3 innings pitched in relief of Howard. Jeff Singer, Ramon Rosso, and David Paulino each pitched a scoreless inning in relief.
The IronPigs and WooSox wrap up their series on Sunday afternoon at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is at 1:35 p.m.
