
Bisons Edge Bulls 5-4 Despite Pinto's Two Homers

BUFFALO, NY - The Durham Bulls (10-18) dropped a 5-4 decision on Friday evening to the Buffalo Bisons (16-12). Durham had seven hits on the night, including two home runs from C Rene Pinto and another from 3B Jonathan Aranda. With the win, Buffalo evens the six-game series at two.
After a scoreless two innings to start the contest, the Bulls struck first on a C Gabriel Moreno two-run RBI single in the third. The Bisons would continue to hold the Bulls scoreless through five innings, as SS Joshua Fuentes connected on a solo shot later in the inning to give Buffalo a 3-0 lead. Moreno would do more damage at the plate in the fifth as he put together an RBI double to extend the Bisons lead to 4-0.
The Bulls got on the board in the sixth with Aranda's solo shot, and Pinto's first bomb followed in the seventh to cut the deficit to two. Pinto would go yard again in the ninth, this time a two-run shot to tie the game at four. Buffalo would respond with a walk-off RBI single by Moreno to secure the win.
Durham pitcher Miller Hogan got the nod to start on the on the mound, throwing five innings, allowing four runs on five hits and one strikeout. Bulls pitcher Calvin Faucher came in for the close, allowing one run on two hits, picking up the loss. Bisons pitcher Kyle Johnston got the win.
The two teams are set to face off again on Saturday afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for 1:05pm. LHP Hyun Jin Ryu is slated to start on the hill for Buffalo as part of an MLB Rehab Assignment, while Durham's starter is to be determined.
Following their six-game road series in Buffalo, the Bulls return to Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Tuesday, May 10 to begin a six-game set versus the Atlanta Braves' Triple-A affiliate Gwinnett Stripers. First pitch of that series opener is scheduled for 6:35pm.
