Buffalo Bisons News Release

Alen Hanson's two-out single in the seventh inning drove home the only run of a 1-0 Bisons victory that completed a fridaynightbash! sweep over the Tides at Sahlen Field. The win came on the heels of a 2-1 Herd victory in game one of the twinbill.

When the Bisons score a run to take the lead in the seventh (and final) inning of a doubleheader, they usually celebrate the walkoff victory with a mob around the batter who brings home the winning run.

That wasn't the case on Friday as the Herd played as the road team because of a rescheduled rainout last month in Norfolk. So, a dab from Hanson at second base and cheers from Richard Urena at the plate and the players in the dugout were all that was allowed until after the end of the final frame. That came when Ty Tice stranded a pair of Norfolk runners to seal the victory.

After six scoreless innings between the two clubs, Urena led off the top of the seventh with a double to left. Following a Jordan Patterson strikeout and a Michael De La Cruz pop out, Hanson came up in the clutch to single home Urena.

Despite only one run crossing the plate in the entire game, things might have been much different for Buffalo if it wasn't for Jonathan Davis. With runners on first and third and two outs in the fifth inning, Davis robbed Christopher Bostick of extra bases and Norfolk of potential two runs with a catch that forced him to crash into the wall.

The catch helped Conor Fisk finish his night on the mound without giving up a single run- the first time he has done that in any of his six starts this season. The righty gave up just four hits and a walk while striking out three Tides in the five innings, which was also his longest start.

Tice followed suit and threw two innings out of the bullpen, earning his first Triple-A win.

While Tice didn't give up a run, things became quite interesting in the bottom of the seventh. Jesus Sucre led off with a single and Anderson Feliz also singled two batters later to put runners on first and second with only one out. The flame-throwing right hander was able to escape the jam by fanning Jack Reinheimer and getting Cedric Mullins to ground out to Hanson to secure the Bisons third shutout victory of the season.

With the sweep, Buffalo has now played six doubleheaders this season, sweeping both games three times, losing both games once and also splitting two twin bills.
