
Clippers rout Pigs in series opener

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs fell to 6-13 in the month of June as they fell 14-0 to the Columbus Clippers on Friday at Huntington Park.
The Pigs (33-37) were shut out for the third time this season while allowing double-digit runs for the fourth time in the month of June.
Columbus (43-29) jumped out to a 5-0 first-inning lead as Brandon Barnes and Eric Hasse each hit two-run home runs off IronPigs starter Alexis Rivero (2-3), who left the game injured. The Clippers had another five-run inning in the fifth and improved to 4-0 this season vs. the Pigs.
Asher Wojciechowski (8-2) held the Pigs to just five hits over seven innings of work while striking out eight. Deivy Grullon was the only Pig with multiple hits.
Lehigh Valley sent seven different pitchers to the mound with only infielder Ali Castillo not allowing a run.
The Pigs will look to bounce back Saturday night as they play Game 2 of a three-game set in Columbus.
