
Syracuse Homers Three Times, Defeats Gwinnett 10-6

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - A pair of home runs from Arismendy Alcantara and another by Rajai Davis guided the Syracuse Mets (36-37) to a 10-6 win over the Gwinnett Stripers (39-33) on Friday night at Coolray Field
Scoring Recap: Down 2-0 in the fourth, Ryan LaMarre tied the game at 2-2 with a two-run triple. Alcantara (5) gave the Mets a 6-2 lead in the fifth with a grand slam off Chad Sobotka. In the bottom of the fifth, Travis Demeritte (14) launched a two-run homer off the batter's eye to cut the deficit to 6-4. LaMarre doubled home a run in the sixth to make it 6-5, but Davis ripped a two-run single to extend the Syracuse lead to 8-5 in the eighth. The Mets added two insurance runs in the ninth for a 10-5 lead. The Stripers got a run back in the bottom of the ninth as LaMarre tripled for the second time and scored on an RBI groundout by Alex Jackson.
Stripers Stats: LaMarre went 3-for-4 with two triples, a double, and three RBIs. Demeritte went 1-for-2 with a homer and two RBIs. Huascar Ynoa worked 4.0 innings, yielded two runs and struck out eight. Sobotka (L, 1-1) tossed 1.0 inning and gave up four runs on two hits.
Bats Stats: Alcantara went 3-for-5 with two homers and five RBIs. Davis went 2-for-6 with a home run and three RBIs. Chris Mazza (W, 3-3) pitched 6.0 innings and gave up five runs on seven hits. Tim Peterson (S, 2) tossed 2.0 innings of one-run ball.
Postgame Notes: Jack Lopez went 2-for-4 for his fifth straight multi-hit game, extending his hitting streak to nine games. The Stripers' pitching staff struck out a season-high 18 batters.
