Buffalo Bisons News Release

The Buffalo Bisons today announced that RHP ELVIN RAMIREZ has been promoted to the team from Double-A Binghamton. Also, C JEAN LUC BLAQUIERE has been promoted from Single-A Brooklyn.

The Bisons also announced that LHP CHUCK JAMES has been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to May 2.

Ramirez, 24, will make his Triple-A debut with the Bisons. The righty was 0-1 with a 1.38ERA in eight games with the B-Mets. In 13.0 innings, Ramirez racked up 16 strikeouts to only allowing seven hits. He earned his first professional save on April 27 with a scoreless inning against Erie.

Ramirez was originally signed by the Mets as a non-drafted free agent in 2004. He was selected by the Washington Nationals in the 2010 Rule V draft but was returned to New York after missing the entire 2011 season with a right shoulder injury.

Blaquiere has played two games in 2012 with the Bisons and is hitless in two at-bats.

James has made nine appearances for the Bisons in 2012. The southpaw has posted a 0.93ERA in 8.2 innings of work (6H, R, ER, 5BB, 8K).
