Buffalo Bisons News Release

The Buffalo Bisons today announced that LHP Rich Rundles and RHP Christopher Niesel have been promoted to the team. Rundles has been added from Double-A Akron while Niesel joins the Herd from the Single-A Kinston Indians.

Both pitchers will be active for tonight's must-win game in Rochester against the Red Wings (7:05 p.m., WECK AM 1230, WSPQ AM 1330, Bisons.com). Buffalo must win both of their remaining games and have Norfolk beat Richmond today and tomorrow to make the 2007 International League playoffs.

This will be Rundles' fourth stint with the Bisons this year. In 16 total games, the 26-year old southpaw has gone 2-4 with a 2.77ERA (26.0IP, 28H, 15R, 8ER, 15BB, 18K). He has held Triple-A lefties to just a .175 (7-40) batting average.

Rundles has been with the Bisons from May 30-July 3, July 28-August 14 and August 18-22. He began the 2007 season with the Aeros and is 3-0 with a 1.83ERA and two saves in 23 total games with Akron (34.1IP, 27H, 10R, 7ER, 10BB, 29K).

Niesel, 24, is 4-1 with a 3.00ERA and one save in 23 games for the Carolina League Kinston Indians (45.0IP, 36H, 16R, 15ER, 9BB, 36K). The Indians #9 round selection out of Notre Dame in 2004 has never pitched above the Single-A level. In 2006, he was 3-0 with a 4.65ERA in 17 games with Kinston.
