Braves Lose 6-5 In 11

Richmond, VA - The Norfolk Tides beat the Richmond Braves 6-5 in 11 innings Sunday at The Diamond. The Tides erupted for four runs in the 11th and held off a three run rally in the home half. The loss eliminated Richmond from the South Division title chase; the Braves still lead the Wild Card race.

The Braves grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first on a lead-off home run by Gregor Blanco. The Tides tied the game in the second on a Jon Knott home run. Adam Stern's RBI single in the fifth gave the Tides a 2-1 lead. Richmond tied the game in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Iker Franco. The game remained tied into the 11th inning. In the Tides 11th Cesar Crespo singled two runs home to give Norfolk the lead. Sebastian Boucher scored on an error and Adam Stern chased a run home with a single to make the score 6-2. The Braves rallied for three runs in the home half. Brent Lillibridge bashed a home run and Martin Prado doubled two home but the Braves left the tying run at second.

Richard Salazar picked up the win. Francis Beltran notched a save. Zach Schreiber took the loss. Prado had three hits for the Braves. Stern had four of Norfolk's 13 hits.

The Braves host the tides in the final game of the regular season Monday at the Diamond at 2 PM. Blaine Boyer is scheduled to pitch for the Braves against Craig Anderson. For more information please call 359-4444 or visit www.rbraves.com.
