Buffalo Bisons News Release

The Buffalo Bisons were officially eliminated from 2007 International League Playoff contention following a 3-0 defeat to the Rochester Red Wings, Sunday night from Frontier Field.

The Bisons (75-68) are 1.5 games behind the Richmond Braves (76-64) and each team only has one game left in the regular season schedule.

Buffalo was the final team to be eliminated from the post season. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre has already clinched the IL North division title while the Toledo Mud Hens won the IL West. The Durham Bulls and Richmond Braves have claimed the other two post season births with the IL South division title still undecided heading into the final day of the regular season.

A pair of solo home runs from Rochester's Doug Deeds provided the early offense for the Red Wings, while Brian Bass struck out a career-high 11 in the complete-game shutout. Buffalo's Jeff Harris allowed just two runs in his 5.1 innings of work, but suffered the loss.

The Bisons will conclude their 2007 season with the final game of a four-game series against the Rochester Red Wings on Monday, September 3 (1:35 p.m. first pitch).
