Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits (30-29) rallied back from a 4-1 deficit to take a lead into the ninth inning before losing 7-6 to the Mississippi Braves (33-25), snapping the Biscuits four-game winning streak Tuesday night at Riverwalk.

After an outstanding play in centerfield by Willie Argo to retire Kyle Kubitza in the ninth, the Biscuits needed two outs to finish a 6-5 win. Elmer Reyes, however, singled followed by a Cedric Hunter pinch hit-double to put the go-ahead run aboard. A David Rohm two-run single would give the Braves a 7-6 lead.

Ryan Brett led off the bottom of the ninth with a double of the left-centerfield wall. Jake Hager grounded to first to advance Brett to third. James Hoyt (2) then struck out Luke Maile and Richie Shaffer to earn his second save of the year.

The Biscuits trailed 2-0 after two innings and 4-1 after four innings. Hector Guevara hit an RBI-double to score Argo to make it a two-run game. Shaffer blasted a two-run shot in the sixth inning to tie the game at four. Later in the inning, with Argo at second, Guevara hit a weak bouncer to the right side that was mishandled by the Braves leading to Argo scoring the go-ahead run.

The Biscuits added an insurance run with Jake Hager's sacrifice fly in the seventh. The insurance was not enough.

Seth Loman's RBI-single in the eight would set up Rohm's heroics in the ninth.

Brett finished with three hits, a homer shy of the cycle. Argo's ten-game hit streak came to an end with an 0-for-1 night with three walks.

The series-finale is Wednesday night at 7:05. RH Michael Colla will throw against RH Aaron Northcraft.
