
'Birds' Offense Explodes Early and Often to Beat Hickory, 10-4

The Shorebirds roared out in front of the Crawdads 4-0 on five hits in the top of the first and were able to hang on in a rain shortened game win 10-4.
Delmarva had an RBI single from Jake Duncan, a RBI ground out from Jason Fransz, another RBI single from Pat Scalabrini and an RBI double from Arturo Rivas. Hickory added a run in the first on the RBI double from Neil Walker. Delmarva fought back in the fourth inning with four more highlighted by RBI hits from Matt Houston, Gary Cates, Pete Shier and a sacrifice fly from Fransz. Hickory scored a run in the fourth, fifth and sixth. Delmarva scored two more in the eighth on a two RBI single from Pete Shier.
Delmarva spreads their lead over the Crawdads to four and a half games. The game ended after the top of the eighth inning due to rain.
