Hagerstown Suns News Release
Lexington, KY:The Hagerstown Suns slide continues with a 5-4 loss at Lexington on Tuesday night. Hagerstown is now 13-27 in the second half, and have fallen all the way back to .500 (55-55) after being 43-28 on June 23rd.
The Suns had an opportunity to tie the game in the ninth, when they had second and third and nobody out, trailing 5-3. Jim Burt hit a line drive to center to score Ambiorix Concepcion from third, but Corey Coles had broke for third on contact and was double off second. That didn't end the rally, because Kyle Brown singled with two outs, and stole second. Russ Triplett popped up, however, to end the game.
Jose Sanchez (11-5) lost for the third time in the second half, and has only one win since mid-June. Sanchez gave up four runs in the first inning, but settled down to go six, yielding only one more unearned run. Edgar Alfonso threw two scoreless innings in relief.
Jim Burt had a great day at the plate. He went 2-3 with 3 RBI's, inlcuding a solo homerun, and that sacrifice fly mentioned above. Ambiorix Concepcion had two bunt singles, and scored each time. Concepcion ran his current hit streak to nine straight games.
The Suns embark on leg two of the road trip to Greensboro, North Carolina to play the Grasshoppers. The Suns split a four game series against Greensboro back in May. All four games in Greensboro start at 7:00pm, starting Wednesday.
