Captains rained out again
August 9, 2005 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Lake County Captains News Release
(Kannapolis, NC)--For the second straight night, stormy North Carolina weather got the better of the Lake County Captains.
The Captains and Kannapolis Intimidators played three innings of their scheduled doubleheader Tuesday. The Captains had a 2-0 lead when the rain began to fall. After a one-hour and five-minute delay, the game was called off.
Brian Finegan tripled in the first and scored on a wild pitch. Trevor Crowe tripled in the third and scored on Matt Whitney's sacrifice fly. Lefty Aaron Laffey started for the Captains and tossed three shutout innings. Since Tuesday was the last scheduled meeting between the Captains and Intimidators, the games will not be made up. Individual statistics will count.
The Captains will be off Wednesday and will begin an eight-game homestand at Classic Park on Thursday. The Hickory Crawdads and Captains will play on Thursday evening at 7:05 (WELW AM 1330).
