Mullet Madness

August 9, 2005 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Greenville Drive News Release

The Greenville Bombers in conjunction with the Rise Guys Morning Show on The Planet 93.3 FM announced on Tuesday that the team will hold their first-ever "Mullet Night" on Thursday, August 18 for their game against the Augusta GreenJackets.

The night will serve as a culmination to the Bombers' season-long "Mullet of the Night" promotion adopted by stadium MC Pete Intza early on in the season. In celebration of those who sport "Business up front, party in the rear" hairstyles, the Bombers will offer general admission tickets for half-price ($2) to all of those who don a mullet for their 7:05 pm game at Municipal Stadium.

"It's no secret that I suffer from a case of 'Mullet Envy'," said stadium MC Intza. "I have had the opportunity to bond with many individuals who sport these under appreciated hairstyles this season and look forward to celebrating their commitment to mullets on August 18. With my graduation the next day I revel in the opportunity to show my parents how I spent my summer internship."

The Bombers teamed with the Rise Guys morning show hosts Skip & Mattman after they hosted their P1 listener party with the Bombers earlier in the season.

"Skip and I are excited to be a part of this unique night," said morning co-host Mattman. "I know that our listeners will embrace a celebration of mullets and we look forward to having another fun night with the Bombers family."

In addition to half-price admission, the Bombers will also be hosting a "mullet pageant" and "mullet games" for in-between inning entertainment. Games will range from the popular "hubcap toss" to the fan-favorite "air guitar competition". Stadium MC Intza and the Rise Guys will also hand out prizes for "top mullets" throughout the evening.

Fans can check out the Bombers staff page on their website at www.bomberball.com for pictures of Bombers' staff members showcasing Intza's mullet wig in preparation for the big event.

The Bombers continue a four-game home stand against the Savannah Sand Gnats on Tuesday at 7:05 pm at Municipal Stadium. Wednesday's game will be a "Day-Game Special" that will feature a hot dog, soda and ticket for $5.
