Big Sticks Suffer Worst Loss of the Season vs the MoonDogs 13-1 in a Disappointing Last Game of the Road Trip

Badlands Big Sticks News Release

The Badlands Big Sticks (10-8) came into this game 4-1 in a tough six-game game roadtrip against two of the top dogs in the Northwoods League: Willmar and La Crosse.

The Moondogs (8-10) came into tonight desperate for a win to catch Badlands in the standings after falling three games back in the division after the loss the previous night.

For Badlands, they have done a great job scoring runs and having big innings with eight or more runs in the last four of five games.

Nikau Heeney (Skyline College) started on the hill last night for the Big Sticks and lasted 2.2 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 1 BB, and no strikeouts. Then Adam Wade (Alvin CC) came in and tossed 1.1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, and 2 K.

Adam Trevino (McMurry) and Calvin Baker (Albany St) each pitched an inning and allowed one run. Grant Wagner (University of Nebraska Omaha) pitched the 7th inning, allowing five runs, and Seth Broadwell (Kaskaskia College) was the only Big Sticks pitcher to pitch a scoreless inning.

There were only six walks by Big Sticks pitching, but 13 hits allowed. The Big Sticks' offense was kept extremely quiet tonight with just three hits from Chayton Fischer (University of Texas Rio Grande Valley), who produced the only run of the game with an RBI single.

Zach Gingrich (Texas St) and Jayden Sanchez (UNLV) contributed the other two hits of the game. Badlands had 13 strikeouts at the plate last night and which marks almost 50% of the outs last night via the strikeout.

A couple of new players for Badlands are set to make their Northwoods League debut throughout the homestand. A couple more players could provide more of a boost for the team to make a late playoff push for the first half before July 1st.

Badlands open up an eight-game homestand with four straight games against the Mankato Moondogs, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 P.M. MST.
