Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MONTGOMERY, AL - A four-run first inning pumped the Biscuits (55-56) in front of the Mobile BayBears (66-44) and they never looked back, taking the opener in a critical series 6-2 Friday at Riverwalk.

With the win, the Biscuits trim the deficit to 7.5 back of the BayBears in the South Division race.

Kyeong Kang and John Shelby both drove home a pair in the first inning against Mobile starter Jarrod Parker (9-7), who was handed his first loss since the Moore no-hitter game on June 16th. Parker gave up all six runs on six hits and five walks over five innings.

Jim Paduch (2-4) got the win for the Biscuits, holding the BayBears to two runs over his five innings.

Tim Beckham contributed an RBI-double, and Matt Sweeney extended his hit-streak to a team-best six games with an RBI-double of his own. Isaias Velasquez was the only Biscuit.

RHP Chris Archer will take the mound for the Biscuits on Saturday against Mobile LHP Tyler Skaggs. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
