Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns (20-20, 57-53) finished their series against the Montgomery Biscuits (20-20, 54-56) by winning 4-2 in front of 4,187 fans at the Baseball Ground of Jacksonville on Thursday night.

The victory is Jacksonville's fourth in the five game series, and the Suns and Biscuits are now in a tie for second place in the second half South Division standings.

Starter Dallas Trahern (4-3) earned the victory with a strong six and two thirds innings allowing a run on five hits. Taking the loss for Montgomery was their starter Nick Barnese (6-5), while Sandy Rosario worked a scoreless ninth to earn his Southern League-leading 22nd save in 2011.

Kyle Skipworth gave the Suns an early 2-0 lead with a two-run homer in the bottom of the second. It was Skipworth's seventh homer of the season, and the Suns would never relinquish the lead.

Greg Sexton's RBI single got the Biscuits closer in the fifth at 2-1 before the Suns posted a two-run rally in the sixth. After Jim Negrych hit an RBI single to put the Suns up by two, Luke Montz's double combined with a fielding error by Montgomery left fielder John Shelby III brought home Negrych to give the Suns a 4-1 advantage.

The Biscuits loaded the bases in the top of the seventh, but Jhan Marinez struck out Shawn O'Malley swinging to end the inning and escape the jam. Cole Figueroa hit a solo homer off Marinez to cut the score to 4-2 in the eighth. Montgomery would also load the bases against Rosario in the ninth, however Figueroa popped out to shortstop Chris Gutierrez to end the game.

The Suns and Biscuits split all 24 games between the clubs in 2011, with both clubs going 12-12.

The Suns will next welcome in the Chattanooga Lookouts for the second leg of the homestand with a five-game series beginning on Friday night at the Baseball Grounds. Friday's game will feature "Blackout Night" with the Suns wearing special black jerseys with fans encouraged to wear black to the Baseball Grounds as well. Friday's game will also feature postgame fireworks courtesy of NAPA Autoparts and your local NAPA Autoparts dealer.

Right-handed pitcher Joey O'Gara (6-6, 4.25 ERA) will pitch for Jacksonville while Chattanooga's starter is to be announced.
