Big Eighth Inning Pushes Dodgers to 7-3 Win

Oklahoma City - Kyle Garlick's two-run double broke a tie before Will Smith connected on a two-run homer in the eighth inning to push the Oklahoma City Dodgers to a 7-3 win against the Nashville Sounds Thursday afternoon at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
The Dodgers scored four runs in the eighth inning as they snapped a three-game losing skid overall and ended a stretch of five straight home losses in front of a sellout crowd of 10,095 on a Field Trip Day in Bricktown.
Oklahoma City (11-22) trailed, 3-1, heading into the bottom of the fourth inning before scoring six unanswered runs to close out the game. The Dodgers outhit Nashville, 8-4, in the game.
Nashville (12-22) quickly took the game's initial lead in the first inning. Eli White grounded into a double play to bring home the first run of the day for a 1-0 lead.
The Dodgers quickly answered in the bottom of the frame. Oklahoma City led off the bottom of the first inning with back-to-back walks by Daniel Castro and Matt Beaty. Castro later came around to score on a wild pitch by Sounds starting pitcher Wes Benjamin to tie the game, 1-1.
In the fourth inning, Patrick Wisdom hit a two-run homer out to left field that landed on the Budweiser Deck to extend Nashville's lead to 3-1 in the fourth inning.
Smith led off the bottom of the fourth inning with a double for Oklahoma City and later scored on a single into center field by Drew Jackson to cut Nashville's lead to one run.
Paulo Orlando knotted the game at 3-3 with a solo home run out to center field in the seventh inning - Orlando's second home run of the season.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Castro was hit by pitch before Beaty followed with a single to put two runners on base with no outs. Garlick followed with a two-run double to push the Dodgers' into a 5-3 lead. Later with one out, Smith hit a two-run homer out to left field for a 7-3 advantage.
Dodgers starting pitcher Rob Zastryzny pitched a season-high 7.0 innings, allowing three runs (two earned) and four hits with one walk and nine strikeouts. Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Tony Cingrani (1-0), who was with OKC on a Major League Rehab Assignment, was credited with the win by pitching a scoreless eighth inning with one walk. Josh Sborz closed out the game with a scoreless ninth.
Sounds pitcher Ronald Herrera (0-3) was charged with the loss for Nashville, allowing two runs on one hit over 2.0 innings with four strikeouts.
Nashville leads the four-game series between the teams, 2-1, and the series wraps up at 7:05 p.m. Friday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Postgame fireworks brought to you by Bank of America are scheduled to follow Friday's game.
