
Bell Placed on Disabled List, Reddick Joins Sea Dogs from Lancaster

Portland, Maine- Portland Sea Dogs' outfielder Bubba Bell has been placed on the disabled list. Outfielder Josh Reddick joins the Sea Dogs from Single-A Lancaster. Reddick will wear uniform # 7, he is the 43rd player used by the Sea Dogs this season.
The 21 year-old Reddick began the season at Single-A Greenville where he hit .340 in 14 games before earning a promotion to Single-A Lancaster on April 21st. With the JetHawks, Reddick appeared in 76 games ranking third in the California League in hitting at .343. His 17 home runs, 57 RBI, and 9 stolen bases lead the team. He ranks second in the league in triples (8) and slugging percentage (.593). His combined average of .342 between Greenville and Lancaster this season is the best amongst all full season Red Sox minor leaguers. Reddick is the tenth ranked prospect in the Red Sox organization according to Baseball America. After playing 94 games for Single-A Greenville in 2007 hitting .306 he joined the Sea Dogs on September 4th where he appeared in one regular season game and three playoff games for Portland. Reddick was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 17th round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft.
Bell, an Eastern League All-Star, has appeared in 78 games for the Sea Dogs this season hitting. 286. He leads the team with 13 home runs. Last season with Single-A Lancaster Bell was selected for both the 2007 Mid-Season and End of Year California League All-Star Game capturing MVP honors for the All-Star Game. Bell also captured the California League batting title with a .370 average and was selected the California League MVP and Rookie of the Year. He led the Red Sox minor league system with a .337 average and ranked second in home runs (26) and RBI (105). Bell was promoted to Double-A Portland on July 5, 2007. The 25 year-old Bell was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 39th round of the 2005 First-Year Player Draft.

Bowden Activated from DL and Promoted to Triple-A Pawtucket
Portland Sea Dogs' pitcher Michael Bowden has been activated from the disabled and promoted to Triple-A Pawtucket. Bowden is scheduled to start tonight for the Pawsox against Columbus Clippers in Columbus, Ohio. Bowden, an Eastern League All-Star has made 19 starts for the Sea Dogs this season posting a 9-4 record. He ranks second in the Eastern League in ERA (2.87) and strikeouts (101). In two partial seasons with the Sea Dogs, Bowden has compiled a17-10 record with a 3.27 ERA. He ranks eighth in franchise history in career ERA (3.27), tenth in wins (17), and tenth in games started (38). The 21 year-old was the fifth pick of the Red Sox (47th overall) in the sandwich round (between first and second rounds) of the 2005 First-Year Player Draft.
