PORTLAND, ME - The Eastern League is pleased to announce the Major League Baseball Advanced Media selections for the Bank of America Eastern League Pitcher and Player of the Week Awards for the week ending July 20th

Trenton Thunder outfielder Austin Jackson has been named the Bank of America Eastern League Player of the Week for the week ending July 20th. The 21-year old had an outstanding week for the Thunder, hitting .643 (9-for-14) with three doubles, one home run, five runs scored, two RBI, two walks, one stolen base and a 1.071 slugging percentage over four games. Jackson, who is a native of Denton, Texas, had multiple hits in three out of the four games he played in last week, including going 4-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and one RBI in an 8-1 win at Portland. In addition to his performance with the Thunder last week, the 6'1", 185 lb. slugger also started in centerfield for the Northern Division in the 2008 Northeast Delta Dental All-Star Game on Wednesday night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium and went 1-for-4 with one double, one RBI and one run scored. Austin, who is ranked second in the league in hits (115), was selected by the New York Yankees in the eighth round of the 2005 draft out of Ryan High School.

Phil Coke, a left-handed starting pitcher for the Trenton Thunder, is the Bank of America Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending July 20th. Coke, a native of Sonora, California, made a pair of starts for the Thunder last week and had a record of 2-0 with 21 strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA in 14.0 innings of work. The 6'1", 210 lb. hurler made his first start of the week last Monday afternoon at Waterfront Park against Binghamton and surrendered only three hits and one walk while striking out 11 batters over eight shutout innings of work to earn the win. Coke made his second start of the week on Saturday night and celebrated his 26th birthday by earning his ninth win of the season at Portland, striking out 10 batters while limiting the Portland offense to two hits and four walks over six scoreless innings. Phil, who ranks second in the league in strikeouts (109), third in ERA (2.60) and tied for fifth in wins (9), was selected by the New York Yankees in the 26th round of the 2002 draft out of San Joaquin Delta Junior College.
