Mankato MoonDogs News Release
MANKATO, Minn.-- The MoonDogs lossed a tough match on Friday 1-9 to the Alexandria Beetles at the Frank which concludes the two game series v. Alexandria.
Kyle McGrath (Louisville) got the start on the mound had took the loss for the team. McGrath went 4.1 innings deep, gave up five hits, four runs, and walked four Beetles batters.
Mike Avila (Missouri Baptist) then came in for relief and was able to make it 3.2 innings, gave up five hits, walked one batter, and struck out five.
Kevin Corey (Chabot) then stepped in from the bullpen and went one inning giving up three hits, three runs, and walked one batter.
Chris Munoz (Oklahoma City) had to hot bat Friday as he went 2-for-4 with the only run batted in for the team.
Aside from Munoz, Chase Simpson (Oklahoma) went 2-for-4 with a double and one run. Kyle Turner (Missouri Baptist) went 2-for-3 with two singles.
With the MoonDogs suffering from the loss of many key players have had a tough time maintaining the winning edge they once possessed in the first half of the season. When a team has numerous new players that are stepping on the field for the first time in a Mankato uniform, it makes it difficult to mesh as a team. Baseball is a tough game that is built around failure, and the 'Dogs are starting to realize how tough the losing side of the game feels.
The MoonDogs now travel to Thunder Bay to take on the Border Cats for a five game series across the border up north in Canada.
The next home game for the 'Dogs will be on August 6th v. the Duluth Huskies for a two game series. The sixth is MoonDogs Hat giveaway presented by Community Bank and Minnesota 93. The first 500 fans will receive a MoonDogs hat courtesy of Community Bank.
Single and season tickets are on sale at the MoonDogs office located at 1221 Caledonia Street. For more information, visit our website www.mankatomoondogs.com or call the MoonDogs office at 507-625-7047.
