Bullfrogs Manage Two Hits, Drop 1-0 Battle
July 27, 2012 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Green Bay Rockers News Release
The Bullfrogs dropped their second consecutive game to the first-place Wisconsin Woodchucks with a 1-0 loss at Athletic Park on Friday night.
The lone run of the game came in the second inning when Joe Serrano scored on an RBI groundout from Brad McKewon, giving Wisconsin the 1-0 that would eventually be the final.
Green Bay only mustered two hits throughout the ball game, only once advancing a runner past second base.
The lone hits came from Jason McMurray in the second and Chris Hoo in the eighth.
The Bullfrogs' best chance to score came in the eighth inning. A Hoo single and walks from Brian Celsi and Alex Abrams loaded the bases against Woodchucks reliever Brett Higginbatham. Higginbatham was the relieved by Pascal Paul, who induced a groundout from Brooks Orton to end the threat.
The Bullfrogs rallied again in the ninth. With two outs, Nick Stein walked and Jason McMurray was hit by a pitch to put the tying run in scoring position and the go-ahead run at first base. Chris Hoo then grounded out to end the game.
Harry Stanwyck (3-2) suffered the loss for the Bullfrogs. He gave up one earned run in five innings of work, while striking out eight. The first six outs for the Bullfrogs defensively came on Stanwyck strikeouts. He was relieved by Bryce Bellin, Dylan Mendoza, and Bud Jeter, who each tossed one scoreless inning.
The Bullfrogs will complete the series against the Woodchucks in Wausau tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35. You can listen live at www.greenbaybullfrogs.com or watch live at www.northwoodsleague.tv.
The Bullfrogs next return home on Sunday, July 29 to take on the Eau Claire Express. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05. Join us at Joannes Stadium for Family Fun in the SUNdays, Bat for a Cure presented by Cellcom, and a special appearance by the Famous Racing Sausages presented by Klements.
