La Crosse Loggers News Release

MADISON - Pitching had the upper hand in Tuesday's Northwoods League All-Star game, and back-to-back strikeouts from South Division pitcher Seth Fuller were the nails in the coffin.

The Wisconsin Rapids pitcher entered the game with one out in the ninth inning and hardly worked up a sweat as he set two batters down with just seven pitches to get South a 4-3 victory over the North.

Jake Stassi (Long Beach State), Jacob Dorris (Texas A & M - Corpus Christi) and Richard Prigatano (Long Beach State) represented the La Crosse Loggers well.

Stassi pitched one scoreless inning to start the game followed up by a scoreless second inning for Dorris and Prigatano went 2-for-4, including a double to lead off the second inning.

Prigatano moved to third base on a groundout, but was stranded on third after a strikeout and a groundout.

North jumped out to a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth, but Brendon Hayden of the Wisconsin Woodchucks broke up the shutout with an RBI single in fifth.

The South took its first lead an inning later when Alex Real and Ty Forney, both of the Eau Claire Express, led off the sixth with consecutive home runs.

The North evened the score in the seventh before the Madison Mallards' Tyler Marincov put the South up 4-3 with a solo homer in the eighth.

It was Marincov's only hit during a 1-for-3 night.

Outside of Prigatano, Lakeshore's Eric Aguilera had the only other multi-hit game for the South, going 2-for-3. Aguilera also had a run scored.

Sean Borman went 2-for-3 for the North, and James Ramsay went 1-for-3 with the team's only RBI.

The Loggers (35-17, 9-8) return to regular-season action on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. as hosts to the Battle Creek Bombers.
