Hershey Bears News Release

It's the second and final meeting of the year between HERSHEY and Syracuse as the BEARS kick off three games in as many nights tonight. The Chocolate and White sit just four points out of first place in the East division entering play this evening.

On Wednesday, the BEARS defeated the Toronto Marlies 4-1 to claim the two-game season series against the team from Ontario. Dave Steckel scored a short-handed goal while Boyd Kane scored two goals and assisted on a third to be named the game's number one star. Goaltender Frederic Cassivi, the AHL's leader in wins and appearances, won his 27th game of the year.

Syracuse, with a lineup heavy with players sent from the Columbus Blue Jackets, defeated the BEARS 5-4 in a shootout on December 3 at GIANT Center. Chris Bourque, Tomas Fleischmann, Eric Fehr and Jakub Klepis each scored single goals against the Crunch that night with Kirk Daubenspeck in goal.

Tonight's game can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network beginning at 7:15 p.m. John Walton has the call of the action from the Onondaga County War Memorial. HERSHEY is at home this weekend for a pair of games, with the Philadelphia Phantoms coming to town for a game Saturday at 7:00 p.m. The BEARS are also home Sunday to face the Providence Bruins at 5:00 p.m. Tickets for both games this weekend are available at the GIANT Center box office, or by calling (717) 508-BEAR.
