Omaha, NE - Carsen Germyn scored 1:05 into overtime as the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights beat the Manitoba Moose 3-2 on Friday night at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. The game was the first home game for the Knights after a five-game road trip.

The Knights sprinted from the blocks, getting a goal from Eric Nystrom just 49 seconds into the game. Dave Moss stole the puck from a Manitoba defender and fed Nystrom for the goal, his 12th of the year. It was the fastest goal to start a game for the Knights this year.

The Moose tied the game early in the second period when Craig Darby finished off a two-on-one break, tapping home a pass from Jesse Schultz at 1:28.

The Knights grabbed the lead back later in the period. Nystrom stole a clearing pass and fired the puck on goal. Moose goalie Sebastien Centomo made the first save, but Craig MacDonald poked home the rebound to make it 2-1 Knights after two.

Manitoba tied the game again on a powerplay early in the third period. Matt Craig converted off a scramble in front of Brent Krahn for his first goal of the year.

The Moose did a good job shutting down the Knights' powerplay, stopping all nine advantages. But on the final powerplay which extended into overtime, Germyn got free for a slap shot that beat Centomo just as the powerplay expired. Krahn earned the win, his eighth in the last ten games, with 21 saves.

The Knights are now 27-24-2-7. They have won nine of their last ten games and three straight at home. They return to action on Sunday when they host the Peoria Rivermen at 5:00 p.m.

Tickets for all home games are on sale at the Civic Auditorium box office, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on Sunday from noon through game time and at all Ticketmaster outlets. Tickets may be purchased by calling 422-1212 or at Ticketmaster.com.
