Bears Announce 2010-11 Opponents

HERSHEY - The 2010 Calder Cup Champion HERSHEY BEARS announced today the team's opponents for the upcoming 2010-11 season. The announcement was made today by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.

The 2010-11 season sees the East Division grow to eight teams, adding the Albany Devils and keeping the franchise recently located from Albany to Charlotte. The Charlotte Checkers, who play at Giant Center four times in 2010-11, are in their inaugural American Hockey League season. Four teams from the AHL's Western Conference will play HERSHEY in 2010-11, including the Manitoba Moose, Lake Erie Monsters and Toronto Marlies. HERSHEY will face the Rochester Americans to open the 2010-11 regular season, as part of the AHL's kickoff to its 75th anniversary season.

The BEARS will play the following teams in 2010-11, with an equal number of games both at GIANT Center and in the opponent's arena:

Adirondack: 4/4 Lake Erie: 1/1

Albany: 3/3 Manitoba: 2/2

Charlotte: 4/4 Rochester 2/2

Binghamton: 4/4 Toronto: 1/1

Norfolk: 4/4

Syracuse: 3/3

WB/Scranton: 5/5

Atlantic Division:

Bridgeport: 1/1

Hartford: 1/1

Manchester: 1/1

Portland: 1/1

Providence: 1/1

Springfield: 1/1

Worcester: 1/1

The BEARS will begin play in October, looking to win a third straight Calder Cup championship. The full American Hockey League schedule is expected to be released in early August.
