Adirondack Phantoms News Release

(July 13 - Glens Falls, NY) The Adirondack Phantoms, proud AHL affiliate of the Eastern Conference Champion Philadelphia Flyers, announced today that the team will face 16 different opponents during the 2010-11 season, presented by Bud Light. The Phantoms will play 54 contests against their East Division rivals, with the remaining 26 games against five teams in the Atlantic Division (12 games), and four teams from the North Division (14 games).

Highlights of the 2010-11 season include:

The Abbotsford Heat will make a pair of appearances at the Glens Falls Civic Center, and the Phantoms will trek far west to British Columbia to face the Calgary Flames affiliate. The Heat had an outstanding 2009-10 season, reaching the final four of the Calder Cup playoffs in their first AHL season.

The New York Rangers' affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack, will face the Phantoms four times this season, including two at the Civic Center. Last season, the Phantoms home game versus the Wolf Pack was one of the best attended games of the year.

2010-11 will see the return of the team formerly known as the Albany River Rats in the form of the Charlotte Checkers. The Carolina Hurricanes affiliate will face the Phantoms six times, with three games at the Civic Center.

The North Country rivalry will continue as the Phantoms will face the new Albany franchise, the Albany Devils, more than any other opponent (12 games), followed by the Binghamton Senators, Hershey Bears, Syracuse Crunch and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (8 games each), the AHL's newest addition - the Charlotte Checkers - six times, and four games (two home, two away) against the Norfolk Admirals.

All fans are encouraged to secure their seats for these exciting games by reserving a full season or select plan by calling 518-480-3355 today.

In addition to the match-up with Hartford, the Phantoms will play two games (one home, one away) with Manchester, Portland, Springfield and Worcester from the Atlantic Division. Additional Western Conference match-ups will feature the Hamilton Bulldogs and Rochester Americans (four games each). The Phantoms will also face the Toronto Marlies twice during the season.

With the new additions of Charlotte and Oklahoma City, and the relocation of the Devils, the league's Board of Governors has approved the following conference and division alignment for 2010-11 (number of home/away games listed in parenthesis):

More than 85 percent of today's NHL players are American Hockey League graduates, and for the ninth year in a row, more than 6 million fans attended AHL games across North America in 2009-10.
