Hershey Bears News Release

The second and final meeting of the season between HERSHEY and Manchester takes place Friday night at Verizon Wireless Arena. Face-off is at 7:35 p.m. The two clubs have not met since the BEARS defeated the Monarchs 5-4 in a game at GIANT Center November 25.

Manchester enters play Friday as the first place team in the Atlantic Division with 85 points, the exact same total as the BEARS as play begins in New Hampshire. HERSHEY, however, is in second place in the East Division, five points back of the front-running Norfolk Admirals with 19 games to play. The BEARS also have four games in hand on Norfolk, who have just 15 games left.

The first place Monarchs have surged to the top of the Atlantic behind goaltender Jason Labarbera. The veteran backstop has 33 wins and a 2.14 goals against average as play commences Friday night. Maxime Daigneault, who leads the BEARS with 17 wins, is expected to draw the start against Manchester.

The night on ice in the East Division features the Lowell Devils in Albany to face the River Rats, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins are in Bridgeport squaring off with the Sound Tigers and the Philadelphia Phantoms are in Providence to play the Bruins at Dunkin Donuts Center. Norfolk will play host to the Binghamton Senators Friday evening at 7:15 p.m.

Friday's game can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network (100.1 FM, 1490-AM and 960-AM) beginning at 7:15 p.m. John Walton has the call of the action from the Granite State. The game is the first of a four-game road trip for the BEARS, with a road tilt Saturday in Portland and a visit to Bridgeport Sunday. The trip concludes next Friday night with a date in Worcester against the Sharks. HERSHEY will not return home until next Saturday night, March 17, to face the Philadelphia Phantoms at 7:00 p.m.
