ALBANY, NY "" Frank Doyle made 32 saves and all three Lowell Devils (31-24-5-3) goals came in the first period of a 3-1 win over the Albany River Rats (28-28-3-2) Friday night at the Times Union Center.

The Devils put up a three spot in the opening frame to get things started. All three goals came within the span of just over three minutes. David Clarkson started things off with his 16th of the season at 11:34. Chris Minard made it 2-0 at 13:22, camped out in front of the River Rats cage and getting his stick on a Petr Vrana shot for his team-leading 24th. Ryan Murphy made it 3-0 at 14:44 when he fired home a long wrister after intercepting a clearing attempt by Albany. Lowell outshot the Rats 1! 2-5 in the period.

As busy as the Devils kept Rats G Tyler Weiman during the opening frame, Albany pressured Devils G Frank Doyle during the second. He held Albany off the scoreboard during the period, making 15 saves and helping his club kill off a trio of second period power plays for the River Rats. Lowell was shorthanded by two-men for nearly a full two minutes early in the frame, but held the 3-0 advantage.

The River Rats kept up the pressure and finally connected. Kevin Estrada netted his second of the season at 3:04 of the third to get Albany on the board. They outshot the Devils 12-5 in the period, and 33-21 in the game, but Doyle held his ground to take the win. Lowell sweeps the home-and-home series this week, and assures them a hold on fourth place in the Atlantic Division. It was the Devils fourth consecutive win on the road.

The Devils head to Hartford on Saturday and Providence on Sunday as they close out this weekend road trip. They return to home ice on Wednesday, March 14th against the Springfield Falcons.
