AVON, OH - The Traverse City Beach Bums continued to improve their roster when the team announced the signing of pitchers Drew Erwin, Wayde Kitchens and catcher Nate Peterson.

Kitchens, a right handed pitcher, pitched last season with the Oakland County Cruisers where he went 5-7 with a 2.77 ERA in 19 games. He is scheduled to make his first start Wedneday, June 15 against the Lake Erie Crushers.

Erwin, also a right handed pitcher, appeared as a reliever in 12 games for the Evansville Otters, going 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA. The Alvin, Texas native was used in 12 innings on the mound, striking out six batters while walking just three.

Peterson, a left-handed hitting catcher from Lubbock Christian University, hit .372 with seven home runs and 33 RBI in his 2011 collegiate season. The Aurora, Illinois native showed a patient eye at the plate as well, drawing 47 walks compared to only 21 strikeouts.

In a set of corresponding moves, the club announced that pitchers Rob Gariano and Cole Taylor have been released. Gariano went 2-2 with an 8.59 ERA in four games, while Taylor pitched 0.2 innings in relief with a 13.50 ERA.

The Beach Bums-Crushers series continues with game two of this three game series on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. Spencer Shelton gets the start for the Beach Bums.
