
Rockford Rally Falls Short In 10-8 Loss

CRESTWOOD, Ill. - Windy City jumped out to a big early lead and withstood a seventh-inning Rockford rally to beat the RiverHawks, 10-8, Tuesday at Standard Bank Stadium.
The ThunderBolts scored five times in the second inning and led, 10-2, after four innings. Ryan Basham led off the 10-batter second inning with an infield hit and scored on Chad Crager's single to right field. Nick Kuroczko singled home Crager to give the `Bolts a 3-2 lead and Windy City led the rest of the night.
Rockford sent 12 to the plate in the seventh inning and scored six runs, two on Jeremy Hamilton's single to right, but went down in order in the eighth and ninth innings. Bradley Blanks struck out the side in the ninth inning and earned his fifth save.
Todd Privett, the first of five Windy City pitchers, earned the win. Privett (3-1) gave up two runs on six hits, struck out six and walked one over six innings. Rockford starter Drew Rucinski (0-1) gave up seven runs on nine hits and did not get out of the third inning in his professional debut.
The RiverHawks have lost eight of their last 11 games, including each of the first two games of the three-game series against the `Bolts. Windy City has a chance for a series sweep at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday. The game will be aired live on ESPN 1380.
The RiverHawks are home at 7:05 p.m. Thirsty Thursday to play Lake Erie. Miller Lite and RBI's sponsor Dollar Beer Night.
