Chesapeake Baysox News Release
(Bowie, MD) - The Bowie Baysox, class AA affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, have reached the Eastern League playoffs for the first time since the 1997 season. With a 7-1 victory over the Mets in Binghamton Friday night, the Baysox clinched a berth in the postseason, but they still have work to do.
With nine games remaining in the regular season, the Baysox are 4.0 games ahead of the Akron Aeros for first place in the Southern Division. Though the Baysox are guaranteed a playoff series, the division winner receives a home field advantage in the first round. The Baysox have a 43-25 record at home this season versus a 36-29 record on the road, however they have currently won 11 straight games away from home.
Another streak the Baysox are out to beat would be winning an Eastern League title, something the franchise has never done. Several franchise records have already fallen in 2008. Brad Bergesen has 15 wins and counting and Lou Montanez is poised to win the Eastern League Triple Crown, despite missing the last 25 games of the season.
Baysox playoff tickets are available now! The tickets will be available as a five-game strip for $50 and can be purchased online at www.baysox.com, by calling the box office at (301) 464-4865 or by walking up to the box office. Fans can choose to reserve their seats along the first or third base lines, or behind home plate. Season ticket holders have first rights to their seats for the postseason. The playoff ticket strip reserves fans' seats for all five potential playoff games!
Fans who purchase the playoff strips will be able to pick their tickets up at Will Call and will be asked to provide a photo ID. Single-game postseason tickets will go on sale once final playoff dates are announced. Single-game tickets will be $14 for lower reserved seats, $11 for upper reserved and $9 for general admission tickets. If the Baysox do not play five games in the postseason, unused portions of the ticket strip will be refunded or can be applied as a credit towards a 2009 season ticket package.
The Bowie Baysox are out to Beat The Streaks in their 16th season as the "AA" affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. The Baysox have not reached the postseason since 1997 and have never reached the Eastern League Championship. Playoff tickets and tickets for all remaining regular season games are available on www.baysox.com or by calling the box office at (301) 464-4865.
