
Rock Cats win over Akron

New Britain, CT - Dustin Martin slugged a solo home run in the eighth inning that brought a sellout crowd of 6,218 to its feet and gave the Rock Cats a 3-2 win over Akron. It was the Rock Cats' 17th sellout of the season.
Ben Julianel (3-2, 2.49) added two shutout innings in relief - including striking out the side in the eighth - to pick up the win.
Wes Hodges hit a solo home run to put the Aeros ahead, 1-0 in the first inning. In the second, Ryan Goleski knocked in Matthew Whitney, who led off the inning with a double, for a 2-0 advantage.
The Rock Cats cut the lead in half with an RBI triple by Drew Butera that scored Danny Valencia in the fourth. Valencia hit a solo shot off the scoreboard in the sixth inning that tied the game, 2-2.
Jeff Manship tossed five solid innings, limiting the Aeros to two runs on four hits. He struck out four. Armando Gabino hurled two scoreless innings in relief.
Steven Wright allowed two runs on five hits while striking out five in six innings. Neil Wagner (0-1, 5.06) suffered the loss in relief.
