ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...
Tonight, the SeaWolves look to make it four consecutive wins as they take the field in the middle game of a three-game set against the Connecticut Defenders
(San Francisco Giants) at Dodd Stadium. The SeaWolves took down the Defenders in the series opener on Friday night and can win the season series with a win in either of the final two games of the series. Erie has not won a season series against the Defenders since 2004 when the club took six of the eight meetings...Since the all-star break, the 'Wolves are 24-12 and the team is in fourth place in the Southern Division, 16 games behind first Bowie. Erie is also 15-5 in the month of August. Erie is in a stretch of 12 straight games against Northern Division opponents. The SeaWolves and Defenders meet six times in a span of 10 days. The 'Wolves are 6-4 in their last 10 games. The 15 wins in August is the most by month in 2008 for the SeaWolves...The Defenders are a game under .500 and in fourth place in the Northern Division, 15 games behind first place Trenton and five games behind wild card leading Portland. They are 4-6 in the last 10 games...Righty Luis Marte takes the mound for the 'Wolves making his ninth start of the season and second against the Defenders. Marte took a loss against Connecticut in his last outing. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Marte. In the game, he worked 4.1 innings, allowing four runs on six hits with four walks and four strikeouts. It was also the first time in five outings for Marte where he did not work at least five innings...RHP Adam Cowart takes the mound for the Defenders. He tossed three scoreless innings in relief against Erie last week.
