August 23, 2008 - Eastern League (EL1)
Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

Dillon Gee allowed a run over seven innings, helping the Binghamton Mets to a 6-2 win over the Bowie Baysox at NYSEG Stadium Saturday. Binghamton won for the first time in three games.

Bowie (79-55) scored the game's first run on Travis Brown's RBI single in the second, but that was all Gee (2-0) would allow. The righthander struck out four and didn't issue a walk.

In the bottom of the second, Binghamton (70-64) rallied to take the lead for good. Brad Bergesen opened the frame with a walk to Ambiorix Concepcion before Shawn Bowman singled and Jose Coronado walked to load the bases. Fernando Martinez followed with a base hit to right-center, scoring Concepcion and Bowman. Two batters later, Mike Carp singled in Coronado to increase Binghamton's lead to 3-1.

The B-Mets got to Bergesen (15-5) again in the sixth, when Bowman reached with a one-out double and scored on Coronado's two-base hit to make it 4-1.

Peeter Ramos led off the seventh with a walk and stole second before scoring on an error that allowed Carp to reach. Carp came home with Binghamton's final run on Caleb Stewart's double to left.

Bowie's Nolan Reimold homered leading off the ninth to close out the scoring.

Sunday, the Binghamton Mets play the rubber game of a three-game series against the Bowie Baysox, the final regular-season home game at NYSEG Stadium. Jose Sanchez (13-6, 1.38) will start for Binghamton against David Hernandez (8-4, 2.58) of Bowie. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. at NYSEG Stadium with the radio broadcast beginning at 6:20 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.

Notes: Binghamton beat Bergesen for the second straight start. Two of his five losses have come to Binghamton...the B-Mets' infield turned a season-high five double plays...Gee has allowed a run or less in each of his first three Double-A starts.
