
'Dogs win in Harrisburg 5-2

(Harrisburg, PA) - 3B Jorge Jimenez blasted a 3-run homer with two outs in eighth inning, giving the Sea Dogs (70-60) a 5-2, come-from-behind win over the Harrisburg Senators (69-65)on Saturday night at Commerce Bank Park. Portland evens the series at one game apiece and have scored nine consecutive runs with two outs.
Daniel Bard recorded his 6th save of the year, stranding two runners in the eighth inning and pitching a scoreless ninth. Chad Rhoades (4-3) pitched 2/3 of an inning to earn the win for the Sea Dogs.
Adam Carr (3-4) relieved Josh Perrault with Zach Daeges at first base and two outs in the eighth. The righty allowed a single to Aaron Bates and the game-winning homer to Jimenez.
Both starters had outstanding outings and were lifted in the seventh inning. Adam Mills hurled 6.2 IP on five hits and two runs for the 'Dogs. Mills has pitched 25.2 consecutive innings without a walk. LHP Justin Jones left the game in the seventh inning after walking Josh Reddick. Jones gave up four hits and one run over 6+ innings pitched.
Harrisburg scored right away off Mills when Garrett Guzman led of the bottom of the first inning with a double. Seth Bynum and Mike Daniel hit conesecutive ground ball outs to second base, scoring the game's first run. In the fourth inning, Ofilio Castro singled and advanced to second base on a groundout by Marvin Lowrance. Ian Desmond popped a single over 1B Aaron Bates into shallow right field for run number two. Portland cut the deficit in half in the fifth inning on a bases-loaded walk by Argenis Diaz, who also knocked in the final run with a single in the top of the ninth inning.
Portland wins the season series over the Senators and improves to 2-3 on their trip. The Sea Dogs had a hit from eight of nine starters - Tony Granadillo was 2-for-3, RS.
On Sunday afternoon, the Sea Dogs play their final road game of the regular season in Harrisburg. LHP Kris Johnson will face LHP Cory VanAllen. Coverage on the U.S. Cellular Sea Dogs Radio Network begins at 12:40 PM.
