Louisville Bats News Release

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Louisville Bats dropped their series finale in Buffalo, 9-6. With the loss, the Bats fall under the .500 mark for the first time since April 24, when they owned a 7-8 record.

Right-hander Daniel Wright (1-2, 5.73) never got it going, pitching only one perfect inning. He threw five innings, giving up five earned runs on seven hits, while walking two and striking out one. The bullpen didn't fare much better, with right-hander Dayan Diaz surrendering three earned runs in one inning and left-hander Wandy Peralta giving up another earned run in two innings of work.

The Bats led at two points in the game before Buffalo's five-run bottom of the sixth. They jumped out in front 2-1 in the top of the fourth on a Brandon Allen two-run double, and also took the lead back, 3-2, on a Seth Mejias-Brean RBI double.

Buffalo spoiled Louisville's lead in the bottom of the sixth, hitting four consecutive extra-base hits that sparked a five-run inning that gave them a 7-3 lead.

Steve Selsky smacked a three-run home run in the top of the seventh that drew the Bats closer, 7-6, but a couple of Buffalo insurance runs in the seventh and eighth secured the lead, with a final score of 9-6.

The Bats will open a three-game series in Rochester, with right-hander Keyvius Sampson (2-3, 2.31) set to start. The Red Wings will counter with left-hander Logan Darnell (8-5, 3.09) with first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m.
