Louisville Bats News Release
LOUISVILLE, KY. - The Louisville Bats (42-37) came up short on Monday evening, falling 5-3 to the Indianapolis Indians (37-43) to close out the series between the two clubs.
Jose Barrero and Alejo Lopez both went 3-4 at the plate on the night, accounting for six of the nine Louisville hits on the evening while both scoring a run apiece.

The Indians jumped ahead in the top of the third with a three-run home run, which led to be the difference in the final, before adding on another run in the fourth to open up an early 4-0 lead.
Louisville took the lid off in the home half of the fourth with a two-out RBI single from Barrero, which brought Matt Reynolds in after a single from the second baseman led off the inning.
The bottom of the fifth saw Lopez lace a triple into right center for his third hit of the game and his sixth consecutive base knock after going 3-3 in Sunday's contest, eventually trotting home when TJ Hopkins lined a sacrifice fly into left field.
Indianapolis responded immediately in the sixth with a two-out single to bring the lead to 5-2, with all five runs of the game for the Indians coming with two outs.
Barrero provided a spark for a potential ninth-inning rally, doubling down the left field line and swiping third base before cruising home off an RBI groundout from Chuckie Robinson, but Indianapolis managed to limit the damage to just one run in the inning to close out the series.
Ricky Karcher (3-2, 7.18 ERA) posted a solid outing on the mound, turning in scoreless eighth and ninth innings in relief to help keep Louisville within striking distance.
The Bats will hit the road for the remainder of the week with the first game of the series against the Toledo Mud Hens slated for tomorrow evening at 7:05 p.m. ET.
