CHARLOTTE, NC - The Louisville Bats (40-33) set a new season-high with 19 runs on 21 hits to cruise to a 19-7 win over the Charlotte Knights (35-40) at Truist Field on Sunday evening. The win secures the season series against the Knights, taking seven of the 12 games.

Louisville got off to a quick start, taking the lead in the top of the first. Matt Reynolds started off the effort by drawing a walk. A two-run homer from Henry Ramos scored Reynolds to put the Bats on the board at 2-0. Hits from Jose Barrero and Jhonny Pereda scored another, putting the Louisville lead at 3-0.

The Bats doubled their score in the top of the second. Chuckie Robinson reached base on a fielding error and Alejo Lopez followed up with a walk. Stuart Fairchild was then hit by a pitch to load the bases for Ramos, who doubled to clear the bases and bring Louisville's lead up to 6-0.

Combining a string of hits and a walk, Charlotte slashed the Bats lead to 6-4 by the end of the second.

Reaching base for the third time, Pereda singled to start off another Bats rally in the top of the third. Robinson then smashed a two-run homer, making it 8-4. Lopez drew his second walk of the game, later scoring on a throwing error. Reynolds kept the effort going with a double and Fairchild blasted his first homer as a returning Bat. With Fairchild's longball, the Bats pulled away, securing a lead of 12-4.

The Knights answered with a solo home run in the bottom of the inning to put the score at 12-5.

Louisville continued to add runs to the lead in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings. The Bats lineup racked up several walks and singles, along with a TJ Hopkins homer - his second dinger in two games since returning to Louisville - for a comfortable lead of 17-5.

After scoring once in the bottom of the fourth, Charlotte also blasted a solo homer in the sixth to bring the score to 17-7.

The Bats answered by adding two more insurance runs in the top of the ninth. Starting it off once again, Pereda singled for his fifth hit of the game. Lopez followed with another single and a double by Martini scored two for a Louisville win, with a final score of 19-7.

With the win, Louisville moves to 40-33 to conclude the first half of the season. The team reached the 40 win mark in the fewest number of games since 2011.

The Bats will enjoy two days off before returning to Louisville Slugger Field for a six-game series against the Indianapolis Indians (33-41) starting Wednesday, June 28 with the first pitch set for 6:35 pm ET.
