Redbirds Finish Road Trip with Rout of Cubs

MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Redbirds concluded a 12-game road trip at the Iowa Cubs on Sunday afternoon with a 16-6 victory at Principal Park to finish out the first half of the 2023 season.

The Memphis bats got things rolling immediately. The Redbirds scored 11 runs over the first three innings in Sunday's win. All nine batters recorded a base hit and scored a run while eight batters drove in at least one run.

Left fielder Chase Pinder led the way with a 3-for-4 day with two runs scored, a double, a walk and five RBI. Designated hitter Luken Baker hit a home run for the second consecutive day and finished 2-for-6 with two runs scored, a double and an RBI. First baseman Taylor Motter smacked a home run, drove in a pair and walked twice with a 1-for-4 effort.

Dakota Hudson (5-4) tossed 6.0 innings, allowed six runs on nine hits, walked one and struck out four batters. Hudson allowed four runs in the fifth inning. Reliever Jose Martinez (S, 1) made his second appearance with Memphis this season and posted three scoreless, hitless innings.

The Redbirds (39-36) return to AutoZone Park on Wednesday, June 28 to begin a six-game homestand at 7:05p.m. CDT against the Nashville Sounds.
