ABOUT LAST NIGHT: Quinn Priester silenced the Columbus Clippers offense with 11 strikeouts across 6.0 scoreless frames as the Indianapolis Indians clinched a series win at Victory Field on Saturday night, 3-1. Priester exited the game before the Indians could plate a run, but not before tallying 11 strikeouts. With the game scoreless through the sixth inning, Indianapolis got on the board in the bottom of the seventh courtesy of a bases-loaded sacrifice fly to the center field warning track by Endy Rodríguez. Canaan Smith-Njigba then padded the lead with his eighth home run of the season, a two-run shot, in the next frame. Yohan Ramirez pitched a scoreless seventh before the Indians got on the board in the bottom half. Columbus scored its lone run on Jhonkensy Noel's solo homer in the ninth. Hunter Stratton left the game-tying run at home plate to clinch the victory and his first save of the season.

QUALITY QUINN: Quinn Priester dazzled on Saturday night, with a season-high 11 strikeouts in 6.0 shutout innings. The right-hander allowed just five baserunners in the outing via three hits and two walks. His 11 strikeouts were his most since fanning a career-high 13 on Aug. 27, 2021 with High-A Greensboro at Asheville. It was his sixth quality start of the season - which leads the Indians pitching staff. Since May 4, he is 6-0 with a 3.13 ERA (19er/54.2ip), 51 strikeouts, 1.32 WHIP and .239 average against.

CSN TAKES FLIGHT: Canaan Smith-Njigba launched his eighth home run of the season on Saturday night. His eight home runs this season is his most since slugging a career-high 11 home runs for Single-A Charleston.

VILADE'S ON-BASE STREAK: Ryan Vilade drew a pair of walks on Saturday night to extend his on-base streak to 16 games - which is the longest active streak by an Indians hitter. He has drawn at least one walk in six of his last eight games. The 24-year-old is hitting .313 (20-for-64) with four doubles, two triples, 13 RBI and 14 walks in 19 games in June.

TRIOLO GOES FOR EXTRAS: Jared Triolo notched his fifth extra-base hit this week with a double on Saturday night. On Friday, he became the 11th player in the Victory Field era to have two triples in a game, the first since Trayvon Robinson in 2019. He finished the night a home runs shy of the cycle, going 4-for-5 with his pair of triples, a double and two RBI. The three extra-base hits matched his career high. Earlier this week, the 25-year-old swiped a career-high four stolen bases in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader while going 3-for-3 with three runs scored, two RBI and a walk. Triolo became the first Indians baserunner to swipe at least four bases in a game since Eury Perez on June 29, 2017 vs. Durham. He is hitting .329 (23-for-70) with 15 runs scored, five doubles, three triples, a home run, 11 RBI and seven stolen bases in 19 games in June.

QUITE THE RELIEF: Indy's bullpen has played a key role in its three-game win streak vs. Columbus. During the win streak, Indians relievers have allowed just one run on five hits, two walks and 13 strikeouts in 12.0 innings. Following an excellent showing by Quinn Priester, Yohan Ramirez and Daniel Zamora kept the Clippers scoreless. Hunter Stratton came in for the ninth and his only blemish came on a solo home run by Jhonkensy Noel before recording his first save and the team's 10th of the season. Starter Kyle Nicolas exited after 3.0 innings Saturday night, the Indians bullpen held strong with 6.0 scoreless frames - allowing two hits and punching out seven Clippers. John O'Reilly earned the win with 2.0 shutout innings and two strikeouts. Colin Selby and Chase De Jong followed his lead with 2.0 shutout inning apiece. In total, the Indians bullpen have allowed only three runs in 20.1 innings this week.

TODAY: The Indians and Clippers will play the series finale of their seven-game set today at 1:35 PM ET at Victory Field. With Saturday night's win, the Indians won their third straight and earned their fourth series victory of the season. The Clippers lead the season series, 9-7, with today being their final matchup of the season. The two teams first met at Victory Field from April 25-30, with Columbus taking three of five in a rain-shortened series. Today, right-hander Jared Jones (0-1, 4.76) will take the mound for Indy against Columbus' left-hander Daniel Norris (2-4, 6.93). In his last outing against Indy on May 24, he allowed six runs on five hits in 2.1 innings.

JONES TAKES THE HILL: Right-hander Jared Jones will make his second career Triple-A start today against Columbus at 1:35 PM ET. In his Triple-A debut on Tuesday night, he threw 5.0 shutout frames without issuing a walk and five strikeouts before Columbus struck for runs in the sixth inning. He exited with two outs and the bases loaded after a single and pair of walks before reliever Daniel Zamora walked three consecutive batters. Jones made 10 starts with Double-A Altoona before his promotion, he was 1-4 with a 2.23 ERA (11er/44.1ip), 47 strikeouts and 1.08 WHIP. He has allowed one run or less in each of his last four starts, surrendering only 12 hits in 20.1 innings. The 21-year-old was selected by Pittsburgh in the second round (44th overall) of the 2020 First-Year Player Draft out of La Mirada High School (Whittier, Calif.). Jones is rated Pittsburgh's No. 10 prospect by MLB Pipeline.

THIS DATE IN 2005: In front of 10,300 fans at Fifth Third Field, southpaw Zach Duke improved to 12-3 on the season in an 8-3 win over Toledo. He struck out seven batters over 7.2 innings and allowed three earned runs on seven hits. It was his last appearance with Indianapolis that season before he had his contract selected by Pittsburgh. Duke went 8-2 with a 1.81 ERA over 14 starts down the stretch for the Buccos.
