
Bats Come from Behind in the Ninth to Beat Columbus 6-5

COLUMBUS, OH -- The Louisville Bats (31-26) came from behind in the ninth inning to top the Columbus Clippers (30-27) 6-5 on Tuesday night at Huntington Park.
After two quiet innings, Reds rehabber Henry Ramos launched a solo home run over the right field wall to take an early 1-0 lead for the Bats.
Matt Reynolds began the top of the fourth inning with a leadoff double for Louisville. After Columbus sat the next two Bats hitters, Chuckie Robinson smoked a triple, his first of the season, to deep center field to bring Reynolds home, extending their lead to 2-0.
A home run in the following frame allowed two runs to score for the Clippers, evening the score at 2-2.
Randy Wynne (2-1, 4.70) turned in another solid start for the Bats. Wynne tossed 4.0 innings, surrendering a single hit while allowing two runs, one earned, with two walks and a season-high tying three strikeouts.
Louisville added another run in the top of the fifth with doubles by Christian Encarnacion-Strand Reynolds to regain the lead with a score of 3-2.
Columbus responded once again in the home half of the inning, scoring three runs on three hits and one walk to take a 5-3 lead.
The Bats cut into the lead in the top of the seventh. With one out in the frame, Encarnacion-Strand launched his 15th home run of the season, a solo shot to left field to cut the deficit to 5-4.
Still down a run in the top of the ninth inning, Jacob Hurtubise doubled in his first Triple A plate appearance to bring home the tying run for Louisville. With no outs, Hurtubise crossed home plate on a wild pitch to score the go-ahead run.
Daniel Duarte (3-0, 3.42) came on in the ninth and sat the Clippers down in order to secure the 6-5 win for the Bats, earning his fourth save of the season.
Louisville will face Columbus in game two of the six game series tomorrow, Wednesday, June 7th with first pitch set for 7:05 pm E.T. Right-hander Brett Kennedy (2-1, 2.53) will take the mound for the Bats, taking on lefty Joey Cantillo (1-0, 5.56) on the hill for the Clippers.
