Sugar Land Space Cowboys News Release
(OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla.) - Franklin Barreto drove in three runs as the Sugar Land Space Cowboys pushed their winning streak to five games with a 7-4 win over the Oklahoma City Dodgers on Tuesday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
The Space Cowboys five-game winning streak is the longest active streak of Triple A teams and has them just one game under .500 (9-10) after starting the season at 3-9.
Barreto capped a four-run third inning with a two-run single down the left-field line to score Michael Papierski and Corey Julks. He drove an RBI double down the left-field line to score Julks once again in the fifth. Barreto has hit .333 (5x15) with three doubles and five RBI over his last five games.
Julks provided insurance in the ninth with a solo home run, which was his first of the season, as well as his first career home run at the Triple A level. Julks' homer traveled an estimated 421 feet, per TrackMan.
The Space Cowboys got on the board in the first, aided by one of Oklahoma City's four errors on the night. Korey Lee reached on an infield single, and David Hensley came around to score from second on an errant throw to first base. Papierski drove in the first run of the four-run fourth with an RBI single to plate Hensley, with Lee also coming around to score on a throwing error to first base.
Jonathan Bermudez started the contest for the Space Cowboys and allowed two runs on five hits through four innings. Shawn Dubin received the win, tossing two innings in relief of Bermudez and allowing a run on four hits. Enoli Paredes picked up his second save of the year with a scoreless ninth.
Kevin Pillar drove in Oklahoma City's first run of the night with an RBI double in the third. Andy Burns briefly made it a two-run game in the eighth with a solo home run prior to Julks solo shot in the ninth.
The Space Cowboys and Dodgers meet again at 12:05 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. Hunter Brown is set to start for Sugar Land and is schedule to be opposed by Beau Burrows for Oklahoma City.
