Barracuda Loan Two to Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's San Jose Sharks, AHL's San Jose Barracuda and powered by Toyota, announced today that the Barracuda have loaned goaltender Matt Davis and defenseman Jack Bar to the Thunder.

Davis, 23, enters the pro ranks after a decorated collegiate career at the University of Denver. The 6-foot-1, 194-pound netminder led the Pioneers to two NCAA championships (2021-22 and 2023 -24). Davis went 63-17-4 over his four-year collegiate career with a 2.13 goals-against average and .921 save percentage.

In 2023-24, the Calgary, Alberta, native capped a NCAA Tournament MVP run with a 35-save, 2-0 shutout in the championship game over Boston College. Last season, Davis helped the Pioneers to their second consecutive Frozen Four appearance, claiming NCHC All-Tournament Team and Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors in the process.

Prior to his time in college, he played one season for the United States Hockey League's Green Bay Gamblers, going 20-9-2 with a 3.34 GAA and .895 save percentage.

Bar, 23, recently inked an AHL contract with the Barracuda. A native of Newmarket, Ontario, the 6-foot-2, 209-pound defenseman is entering his rookie season as a pro after completing a four-year collegiate career at Harvard University. Bar was named as the captain during his senior campaign and finished with 20 points (2g, 18a) in 117 career games for the Crimson.

A fifth-round pick of the Dallas Stars in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, Bar played one year in the USHL with the Chicago Steel., notching 15 points (5g, 10a) in 34 games.
