Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
Davenport, Iowa - The Quad Cities River Bandits, Class-A Affiliate of the Houston Astros, will offer free admission to their fans for the game on Tuesday, June 4th, against the Peoria Chiefs, Single A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, at Modern Woodmen Park.
The team is inviting everyone in the Quad Cities region to enjoy a night at the ballpark free of charge as a thank you for the outpouring of support the team continues to receive during the floods. The River Bandits have played 40 of their 50 games this season outside of the Quad Cities due both to the flooding and the continued operation of the Canadian Pacific Railroad in front of the ballpark.
"There are no better fans anywhere in baseball than the people of the Quad Cities," said Bandits' owner Dave Heller. "This is our way of saying thank you to everyone in this great community, especially the great team over at Davenport Public Works, who continues to support us through wind, rain, floods, and everything else Mother Nature has thrown at us. We are saying thank you Bandit-style - by opening up our gates and allowing everyone in for free this Tuesday. I hope everyone will come, cheer on their first-place club, and enjoy a free Bandits game!"
The Bandits will continue to solicit donations to the Genesis Flood relief fund at all home games. The donations will be matched 100% by the River Bandits and Genesis.
The River Bandits are on the road in Burlington this weekend before returning to Modern Woodmen Park to open a seven-game homestand against Peoria and, later, Kane County on Tuesday, June 4th. The Bandits are currently leading the Western Division of the Midwest League with a 33-17 record.
