Peoria Chiefs News Release
South Bend, IN - The Peoria Chiefs and South Bend Silver Hawks have been rained out on Friday marking the second straight day the Chiefs have had a game cancelled due to weather conditions. The two teams will attempt to play a double-header at 5:00 PM EST on Saturday.
The Chiefs arrived in South Bend after being rained out Thursday morning in Fort Wayne and have not seen a break in the rain since late Wednesday afternoon. The forecast calls for more rain on Saturday and Sunday. Six of the seven MWL contests were rained out on Thursday.
The Chiefs had been expected to throw Scott Taylor on Thursday and he was bumped back to Friday with the first rainout. It is now likely that his turn will be skipped and the Chiefs will move ahead to RH Mitch Atkins in game one and throw a spot starter out of the bullpen in game two. Saturday's broadcast begins with the pre-game show on www.peoriachiefs.com at 3:45 PM Central Time.
